The short version
Solo play happens entirely on your device. If you start or join a multiplayer room, the game sends an anonymous account ID, the display name you type and your results in that room, so the other players can see them. Multiplayer data is deleted automatically 24 hours after the room ends.
Playing on your own
Every solo mode runs on your device. Your scores, stats and settings are saved in the app’s local storage and are never uploaded. If the game ever crashes, the crash report is also kept on your device only — it is not sent to us or to anyone else.
Playing with friends (multiplayer)
When, and only when, you host or join a multiplayer room, the game connects to our server and sends:
- An anonymous account ID. The app signs in anonymously, which creates a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email address, phone number, Apple ID or Google account. It lets the server tell players in a room apart.
- The display name you type. It is shown to the other players in that room. Names are screened automatically for offensive words. Please use a nickname rather than your full name.
- Your gameplay in that room — round scores, catches, misses and the Buzz Attack abilities you use — so that every player sees the same match and the same results.
There is no chat, no friends list and no way to message other players.
Update checks
The app occasionally downloads a small public file that says which version is the latest, so it can tell you when an update is available. The request carries no personal data and no identifiers. As with any request on the internet, our hosting provider’s standard server logs may record the IP address and time of the request; we do not use those logs to identify or track anyone.
What we never collect
- Your real name, email address, phone number or postal address
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or files
- Any advertising identifier (IDFA or Google Advertising ID)
- Analytics, behavioural or tracking data of any kind — the app contains no analytics, advertising or attribution SDKs
Who processes the data
Multiplayer data is stored by our backend provider, Supabase Inc., on our behalf and for no other purpose (supabase.com/privacy). We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or transfer it to anyone else.
How long we keep it
Multiplayer rooms, the players in them, their names and all match results are deleted automatically 24 hours after the room ends or expires. The anonymous account ID itself carries no personal information. Data on your device stays there until you delete the app.
Your choices and rights
- Play solo — nothing about you is sent anywhere.
- Use any nickname you like in multiplayer.
- Delete the app to remove all data stored on your device.
- Email us to ask what we hold or to have it deleted; tell us the display name you used and roughly when you played.
Children
Buzz Rush is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has entered personal information as a display name, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
All network traffic uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Server access is restricted by row-level security, so a player can only read data for the rooms they are in.
